Apollo

The Nasa Lunar Module on the surface of the Moon.

3D: Maya, Gaea, Houdini.
Render: Octane.
Post-processing: Photoshop.

I drew some inspiration from the film Apollo 18. I wanted to emphasize the stark contrast between light and darkness, with the sun very close to the horizon.

The craters were created in Gaea and exported as heightmaps into Houdini, which I used to generate heightfields and convert them to meshes.
The scene was assembled in Maya and rendered with Octane.

Materials: Quixel Megascans.

Poly count: 65.5 million.
